Aluminum as strong as steel

SCIENCE!

Researchers at NC state have created an aluminum alloy that is just as strong as steel. This discovery is important because using an alloy that has the same strength of steel yet weighs much less can be instrumental in manufacturing many things, from more fuel efficient cars to lighter planes.

How did they do it? NANO-STRUCTURING. Nanotech is wonderful, isn't it?
