Wizdum

Yes. In fact, they were forced into lowly positions like money lending and accounting because they couldn't get jobs in any other industries. They were constantly persecuted and ostracized from conventional business and trade by Catholic culture. Segregation was common in the middle ages.

It's kind of like the way many black people today can't get jobs in the American south so they resort to unsavory industries like pimping, prostitution and drug dealing.


If, 1000 years from now, drug dealers and pimps run the world (which may very well be the case).
